Beard Oil

Beard oil moisturizes your face while supporting a soft, full and healthy-looking beard. Beard oil may also prevent and soothe itching, which commonly occurs when your beard is growing out. Most beard oils are formulated with natural and essential oils to give your facial hair extra shine and manageability. Some are also enhanced with fragrance to help your beard smell fresh and clean.

Beard oil is easy to incorporate into your grooming routine. When starting out, try using it every other day after cleansing your face or taking a hot shower. It's generally best applied to slightly damp, towel-dried skin.

To use beard oil, squeeze two to three drops into your palm, rub your hands together and gently massage the oil into your beard. Then run a wooden comb or boar bristle grooming brush with and against the growth of your hair to evenly distribute the oil and stimulate the hair follicles. If your beard is particularly long or dry, you may wish to apply more oil.

Think of beard oil as your base — it goes on first. Beard balm goes on afterward to help style and shape your beard and tame any unruly flyaways. While beard oil is lightweight, conditioning beard balm is creamy, thick and typically formulated with a blend of beeswax, shea butter and essential oils. It's a great add-on for men with full or longer beards.

To apply beard balm, scoop a pea-sized amount into your hand, and gently massage it into your beard. As with the oil, you can use a grooming comb or brush to distribute the product evenly and style your beard with confidence.
