The CVS Health™ Merthiolate antiseptic solution ensures an infection does not also add to wounds. Featuring the active antiseptic ingredient of benzalkonium chloride, the CVS Health™ Merthiolate solution can help to ensure that dirt, germs, and viruses don't settle into your fresh skin abrasion. Ideal under bandages, this infection preventative can be applied directly to your affected area one to three times a day to help keep bacteria at bay. The CVS Health™ Merthiolate can also be used on skin inflamed as a result of insect bites, burns, and sensitive scrapes. Ingredients
Benzalkonium Chloride 0.13%, Alcohol, Acetate, FD&C Red No. 4, Purified Water. Please see the full list of product ingredients on the product label.
Directions
Adults and children 2 years and older: clean the affected area, apply a small amount on the area one to three times daily, may be covered with a sterile bandage. If bandaged, let dry first. Children under 2 years of age: Consult a doctor.
Warnings
For external use only. Ask a doctor before using if you have deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns. When using this product do not get into the eyes, apply over large areas of the body, apply over raw surfaces or blistered areas, use for longer than one week unless directed by a doctor. Stop and ask a doctor if redness, swelling or pain persists or increases. Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Soap will deactivate the effects of this product.
