CVS Health Chest Congestion Relief DM has been shown to provide rapid relief from cold symptoms including congestion and cough. The immediate-release tablets start working right away and have been shown to continue to be effective for up to four hours. Each box of this medicine contains 60 tablets at the price of 50 tablets. The formula in this medicine is approved for use in people ages six and up with up to six doses in a 24-hour period. If you or a loved one has a cold or other illness causing cough and congestion, this medicine may be able to provide fast relief. The expectorant has been shown to help loosen and break up the mucus, reducing congestion in the chest and sinus cavities. Getting rid of the excess mucus also helps to prevent throat irritation so that you do not need to cough nearly as much. When taken before bed, this can help you to sleep more soundly so that your body is able to fight off the virus that is making you sick. Ingredients
See the full list of product ingredients on the product label. Active Ingredients (per Tablet): Dextromethorphan HBr (20 mg), Guaifenesin (400 mg). Inactive Ingredients: Magnesium Stearate, Microcrystalline Cellulose. May Also Contain (Colloidal) Silicon Dioxide, (Co) Povidone, Dicalcium Phosphate, Maltodextrin, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Stearic Acid.
Directions
Adults and Children 12 Years of Age and Over: Take 1 tablet every 4 hours as needed. Children 6 to Under 12 Years of Age: Take 1/2 tablet every 4 hours as needed. Children Under 6 Years of Age: Consult a doctor. Do not exceed 6 doses in a 24 hour period or as directed by a doctor. Store at 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C).
Warnings
Do not use if imprinted seal under cap is broken or missing. Do not use if you are now taking a prescription Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease) or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not know if your prescription drug contains a MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before using this product. Ask a doctor before use if you have: persistent or chronic cough, such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema; cough is accompanied by excessive phlegm (mucus). Stop use and ask a doctor if: symptoms are accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache; cough persists for more than 1 week or tends to recur. (A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition.) If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
