Sun Safety Tips: Shield yourself from the sun during the day when the sun's rays are strongest: between 10 am and 4 pm. Wear clothing to protect skin from direct exposure to the sun. Wear a hat with a wide brim to protect the neck, ears, nose, forehead & scalp. For the best eye protection, wear sunglasses that block 99-100% of UVA/UVB rays. Reapply sunscreen often, especially after towel drying or swimming. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply: After 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying; at least every 2 hours. Sun Protection Measures. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad-spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in the sun, especially from 10 am-2 pm; wear long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses.
